The Artist
Working in wood for twenty-five years before his passing in 2017, Arthur E. Lederman was a prolific and dedicated craftsman of abstract wood design.
Prior to working in wood, he had been a writer, China scholar, and professor. His fields of expertise were wide-ranging; Asian studies, Philosophy, and the New Testament. Much of his scholarly work is published, as is a recent book of satirical wit and humor.

His desire to work and create in wood came about through his knowledge of engineering, construction, and a genuine love of balance, proportion, and symmetry.

Residing his entire life north of Boston near the ocean's edge, his exhibitions were extremely popular in the Boston area. His works can be found in galleries, private collections and office complexes from Boston to Seattle.
"I like things simple but it must be simple through complication. Everything must come into your scheme, otherwise you cannot achieve real simplicity"
